Billy Eckstine & His Orchestra was a musical group led by American jazz and pop singer Billy Eckstine. Active during the 1940s and 1950s, Eckstine was known for his smooth baritone voice and romantic ballads. He was one of the first African-American male singers to achieve success in the predominantly white popular music industry. Eckstine's orchestra played a mix of jazz, swing, and rhythm and blues, collaborating with several prominent musicians of the time.
