7th Order

From wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7th_Order 7th Order is an American Rock & Roll band whose debut extended play CD release, The Lake of Memory, was issued on the Big Island Sounds label in 2007 (although 7th Order had been in existence for several years by that time). The band is led by vocalist and songwriter Daniel Jones and is notable for having been assisted by veteran British guitarist Martin Pugh(of Steamhammer, Armageddon and "The Rod Stewart Album"), drummer Tim Kelliher, (of Randy Hansen's Machine Gun), and guitarist Geoff Thorpe (of Vicious Rumors). Reviewers have recognized their particular sound as reminiscent of blues-rock bands like The Rolling Stones and The Yardbirds, with progressive undertones ala Led Zeppelin. As of October 16, 2015 - 7th Order was the number one Rock & Roll artist for the State of Hawaii on the Reverb Nation web site. Their most current release (June 2020) is a single titled "Voyager" - a tribute to the late American guitarist Ronnie Montrose, and a benefit for the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund

"Lazarus" - 7th Order
music/lyrics: Daniel Jones
2006@7th Order Songs, ASCAP

The initiate's journey found me
light years from here
Blinded by beauty, taken in by the glare
Walking amongst the stones
and led by the spirit
An angel's voice, bargained my life just to hear it

And the song of Lazarus lives on the wind
We hear it blowing by
then back again
Tales of Lazarus carry us away
Across the centuries
until today

Her songs and tales had me, mesmerized
Enchanted in a trance, i realized
I had to know from where her wisdom came
She said "the words of Lazarus
will never change"

And on that day I learned the treasured secret
The choice was mine to reject or keep it
And if you listen closely
gonna hear it too

I left her home that day, a wiser soul
Considered carefully
What I'd been told
Now I'm going back again, I need to see her
The path, the pain, trials of a true believer

And the song of Lazarus lives on the wind
We hear it blowing by
Then back again
Tales of Lazarus carry us away
Across the centuries
Until today
