Dre Pao (born Adriano Paonessa) is a Songwriter/Recording Artist from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, born on September 12, 1992. Before music, Dre studied Political Science and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from McMaster University (Canada). ​ Dre Pao’s music career launched in 2012 when he was discovered by Spanish recording artist Xuso Jones (Universal Music) while singing on a beach near Madrid, Spain (Murcia). The Canadian songwriter honed his craft through the advice and mentorship of JUNO Award winning producer Lenny DeRose (Walk Off the Earth, Barenaked Ladies, and The Tragically Hip). Dre would go on to work with producer Juan De Sedas (Fito Blanko/David Bisbal) and build an online fanbase through covering songs in Spanish and English. Dre Pao was the co-writer of the People’s Choice Award winning song “Turn it On”, presented by the 2015 JUNO Songwriting Competition. He was also the only songwriter to receive the BusinessLink Niagara Top40Under40 Award in 2016. As a performer, Dre opened for Grammy-nominated artist B.o.B in Toronto for the launch of his 2015 Canadian Tour and has performed at festivals around the Greater Toronto Area. Dre is also very active in creating publicity for rising artists in his hometown of Hamilton, ON., writing for platforms such as HamOntMusicReviews.com and Urbanicity Magazine. The Hamilton-born artist was also a judge for Hamilton’s ‘2017 Pub Fiction’s Got Talent’, judging alongside names such as Thomas Wade and Jack Pedler of Teenage Head. In the past, Dre ran “Instagram Live Weekly” for @HamiltonMusician and @HamOntMusicReviews in order to network and connect rising artists in his hometown. This led to the creation of “Dre Days” — a weekly vlog that documents the journey of a rising artist and highlights the importance of being an entrepreneur in the constantly evolving music industry.
