I didn't expect to be gone so long So, in my absence you have got to be strong I wish I could tell you that it's all ok I wish I could tell you that it's all alright But you wouldn't understand Oh no Coz you're a cat You'll never know why I had to go away You have no concept of a hospital stay Much as I'd love to come straight home and play I have to do as the doctors say I'm missing home But I feel less alone When I get pictures of you on my phone Now I'm not worried about your welfare I know that you are being brilliantly cared for But it kills me that I'm not there I wonder how you'd act if you saw me in a wheelchair When I return I may be sluggish So forgive me if I'm rubbish When I'm stuck on the sofa all day long But things will improve As I learn how to move Before you know it we'll be back in our normal groove You'll nestle on my chest Purr loudly at my stroke And when you've had enough You'll punch me in the throat Use my broken leg as a launch pad But I won't get mad No I can't be mad Coz I'm home You might be wary of my crutch shy away from touch But I bet you won't mind When it's feeding time At which point I'm screwed Because you won't move And your bowl is sat directly between me and the loo You'll wake me up each dawn Like I was never gone With surprisingly aggressive headbutts Then you'll scream at me all evening for no apparent reason Have I committed some treason? I guess you want attention Or maybe a treat I don't always know what you mean I can't wait to be back I'll take the good with the bad To be the best cat dad That I can
