The struggle you start today is a struggle our babies don't have to start tomorrow I know this because I've lived this. A long time ago, my grandma said the politicians thought we wouldn't fight, But we united and said, ya basta enough, This is a dumping ground no more. The kids around here were babies when we started Now they will fight for what they believe in because we showed them their voices count Every day in the United States, toxic pollution is shipped into Black, Indigenous, and Latinx communities, resulting in thousands of deaths and extreme health burdens for people of color All over the country, activists are organizing in front-line communities and fighting for zero-emission solutions to protect their families and themselves from environmental racism My name is Dr. Bruce Struble. I asked my homeboy King Crooked from Long Beach to speak on the issue. Yo Crook, talk to them. All I wanted to do was go and play outside. This lil Crooked talking to you, man Let's take a ride To the community park, but that's where all the danger hide. Cause they dumping chemicals under my favorite slide. They ain't got no toxic waste in the place where they reside. Guess that's something my neighborhood gotta take a stride Pipelines taint the water for the native tribes. Politicians look the other way They taking bribes. Been lying about their political stance on CNN with their pitiful rants and minimal chance of ever shutting down chemical plants. I'm just giving you a visual glance at how these criminals dance around the truth like the running man. I'm just keeping it 100, man Look at Flint's water and then you'll begin to understand how one hand washes the other hand I smell rubber, man. All this pollution abusing our winter wonderland. Environmental justice activists are at the rally fighting for people in Louisiana who live in Cancer Alley. Extra pollution every breath's alluding to execution No restitution in destitution that's disaster valley. What's the solution? Just uphold the evidence and think of this song when it's time to go vote for presidents. They built our neighborhood on a wasteland and never told the residents time to fight for the zip code we represent. I don't think the people understand this, But following Ron DeSantis and his antics gone leave Miami looking like Atlantis. It's like they really trying to wipe us off the planet or maybe the plan is to dump more black bodies in the Atlantic Man, I can't stand it. Human survival taken for granted. Nothing changing but the climate the globe warming. Stop the semantics We fighting Asthma and cancer can't find enfamil or pampers But they worried about which lectures I'ma give when I'm on campus. We started moving forward together because it gives us better chances when we fight to win even though they have every advantage. They had the money and politicians in their pockets, But we invest in our communities and put the people over profit. How could they stop it? The power of the people will never be defeated. The elders speak it, you seek it. We don't keep the truth secret. We make them see it's not just about shootings. If you allow this pollution to kill millions every year, when you disavow the solutions, Confirms our suspicions that this is done with racist intentions. You sanctioned those shipments equivalent to chemical lynchings. So here's our petition demanding transition to zero emissions, Advancing this mission to dismantle the system By building this worldwide coalition to amplify the voice of the victims until it lifts our communities out of these toxic conditions. I hope that you listened. We need clean air in the southward of the city of New Jersey today One out of four children suffer from asthma and we are dying because we can't escape the pollution. We can't keep doing this intentional destruction of toxic communities. We are killing so many people, so many black and brown people Our communities are not disposable. We not only have the right to survive we have the right to thrive. We have the technology, we have the money. What are we waiting for? It's time that the EPA and our elected officials do something. We need to change how things have been. We need to save the lives of our current generation and of our future generations from all the diesel emissions, from trucks, from freight, from anything that's causing pollution. And we must demand that not only they put on these rules, but that they enforce them And hold those responsible for this pollution accountable and make them pay for what they have done to our communities. The reason why we are in existence, she came to our organization, Citizens for Environmental Justice, She said you gotta help us because we're dying. We're so sick We don't have insurance What are we gonna do Somebody needs to stand up for us, And so we said Harambee.
