Honest Thoughts, Pt. 2

Yeah opening my eyes yo it's almost quarter past five in the morning time Ain't no time to be mourning about past triflings And previous duels with yesterday's devious devils I've had nights with sleepless intervals But today I'm beating the levels Lord knows if it weren't for mothers My room be like a war zone I threw off all the covers And walked toward my wardrobe I'm looking for something to wear But it seems that nothing is there But eventually I find my running gear And I'm stumbling down the stairs I'm stretching and getting loose As I go into the kitchen and start drinking lemon juice I down it, then I'm out the door, into the wild I find myself smiling as I'm realising damn what a beautiful day it is Oh it's a beautiful one man The sun is shining, the birds are singing But don't think for a second I'm just gonna relax I'm thinking about all sorts when I'm running My failures and how I fall short And end up stumbling away from goals But today I ain't reliving no negative thoughts In fact, I'm looking forward to more challenges I wonder what was in the lemon water As I turn the corner burping over myself Which is a little awkward As I walk by a guy with a dog so I say hi to him Good morning I'm already back with my thoughts as we're passing I'm chasing goals ay the way that I'm racing this road But hey there's a lot of distractions Even though success is a lonely stroll I confirm I ain't gonna buy into no con firm Of complacency the world of my platform to preform and I inform I ain't gonna conform My aims were straight Just check my form Learnt what I like and don't I turn to the right There's a girl up against a lamp post At one time I would've said hi but now no I now know the drama bro And I can't be bothered no more I don't need the validation Yo G I just ran 5K in 15 That's how I know I'm really gaining I'ma fill out the XL size for a T-shirt I'ma excel in life I'ma meet you up there alright I'd like to say I'm fly Look up to the sky an spy me a private plane and I'm like damn One day that's gonna be mine Me and the homies doing whatever we choose Money don't buy happiness I know But it does contribute As I'm nearing the end of my run time I manage to catch the sunrise as I run by The day is full of opportunity Much of it untouched and left to sit That's okay it's just more for me A neighbour that I know is outside with a garden hoe She cheers as I run by and says Good for you Don't drink beers or do drugs When you're old and fat like me it ain't much fun I laugh back in reply as I'm bombing it I'm hurrying my bus is departing in half an hour But I still appreciate the comedy and encouragement It got me remembering we all do better when someone is whispering words of encouraging aspiration Without even realizing I'm home breathing hard I run up through the driveway and go through the doorway The door was unlocked I left it open Whoops Im creeping silently through the house Tiptoes like Mike Tyson The dog doesn't go woof He's still sleeping nicely Right where I left him last night Curled up on the couch snoring softly Like it's his house that I'm in Whatever But my day just begun
