Why do we keep trying Wasting our days lying Fading away then dying Giving into our fears It's our own minds we destroy Being an emotionless void Just cause we're too paranoid Thinking our end is near I can't fade away Let me fly away We spend our days thinking we're dying Ever since the day we were born Staying up late crying Wish we were flying with the ones we mourn They watch from shadows Creeping beneath us Playing into our fears The sleepers we envy lying Twisting light into darkness we hear Are we cursed being gifted with thought Letting our own minds decide if we die just for plot We dream of the things that they say we cannot But it's our thoughts that say that our chances are shot Ash turns to feathers but we can't fly away We're just flightless birds that won't see the day That we find out if we've done it and made it Only to have our own death celebrated I can't fade away Let me fly away Maybe it's time we calm down And simply take a step back Appreciate what we have And hope we don't back track But why is it all awful And the world the way that we made it Is there something wrong with us If we're ungrateful enough to hate it Why can't we stop thinking We're spiraling out of control We need to stop overthinking Before we lose everything that we know We're wasting our lives already Laying in shallow graves Cause only then do we care About our own lives being saved I can't fade away Let me fly away Mark all your progress and steps that you've made Ensuring the quiet in your mind won't cascade Down on you and leave you defenseless Cause you can't afford to be reckless
