Last night I dreamt I did not exist I could have sworn that I felt something when you Touched me on my wrist But it must have been Someone other than myself I had no voice to scream in anguish I had no body to be held I was emptiness I was influence I was nothing but an echo I was Narcissus I will bend and break To recognize the pain But is it just too late For reconciliation Last night I roared in the face of grief I plunged headfirst into battle I was smoldering and weak I felt galvanized by A self I never knew I felt the hot tears of a child Who never processed his abuse I made a plan to face The darkness I erased And ran away from When I felt I couldn't bear it I took up the mantle Of sorrows wide and ample I felt more alone Than I have ever known Even still, we make the meaning in our lives But I believe that there is truth And now, I know that there are lies God, it is beautiful to know That there is so much more than this We're not just trapped inside These folds of skin And all though the night is long The pain of darkness always yields Every moment, we grow stronger And more ready to be healed I have realized this is all That I need before I die And I will spend my every moment To keep the love I feel alive Last night I fell into a dreamless sleep That was light and unencumbered Wholly replenishing and sweet I awoke And felt the warmth of my abundance I had faced the gaping sadness Returning weary and triumphant I held my face in my hands Wet with understanding.
