A Life to Remember

I don't know when I first heard the news It was probably a rainy afternoon But he'd freak out, and he'd be lost in his own home What a shame, I'd cry I'd do my home school work, then make us some lunch While watching the news till you wanted it off Then I'd go to the basement and play with the trains Then you'd join me too, shaking hands all the way Each day was all like this though some They got worse, and I had still loved you While you just got worse We wanted to help you Take care of your pain But all that you wanted was death on the way You pleaded with us for help For the people that were in his head You wanted them gone, the noise to quit And for you to be at peace but could never rest The days turned months, quickly went by Now it feels like a quick dream Then before I knew it my world had collapsed And the person that made me was Weak as could be Every week I went to see him I'd never stop playing my songs He so loved, I did all I could to keep His spirit up, but It won't help it won't help it won't help it won't help He was going fast, and I couldn't relax For my world very quickly had crumbled I played one last song, still plenty to go But he slowly went off in his sleep Smile on, you legend of my childhood memory I won't forget that voice of yours And if I run into hard times to come I won't hesitate to think of you I thank the music you gave me And the life to remember, so long ago Though it's been years I still want you to know I'll always love you, the muse to my whole life
