You're Still There

We're waiting. Oh, we're waiting Under a warm golden evening sky The day ebbs away until I take your hand and you take mine As the light gives way we start to move in time We dance ever closer and faster and freer until The sun goes down and you're still there We hold each other closer as The first chilling wind of night Blows us about We dance like leaves in the rising breeze The wind grows colder but we're still dancing On and on we go, go, go Our feet barely touch the ground As we spin around But the darkness grows The freezing wind soon picks up into a howling gale Falling snow transforms into biting hail Trees are uprooted and smothered by jagged ice Under the light of a ghostly moon It's halo in the swirling mist above us looms We follow our feet as our dancing keeps us warm Through this monstrous storm, oh, you're still there We grip each other tightly as The world's slowly torn apart I feel your beating heart More than the crashing trees But suddenly the ground is quaking We start to falter, our bodies shaking I clutch you tightly We both lock eyes Wondering what our fate will be Oh, but suddenly we're ripped apart The ground opens up and I fall into the dark My arms flail about but all I grasp is air I'm falling. Oh, I'm falling Til freezing water engulfs me And I panic and scrabble around I scream I shout Icy fingers surround Like daggers Of ice They stab all around My heart's beating so fast Don't know how long I can last By myself Just then I feel enveloped in warmth Out of the water I'm raised In a loving warm embrace you hold me Once again, oh you are there Through pitch black caverns you lead me Ever onwards we dance Never backwards we glance Until eventually we see a glow Soon we dance out into a warming sky The ice is melting, wind no longer high We embrace in the warmth as a new day is born The hope and promise of a rising dawn And you're still there
