The Path Chosen

Overhead the buzzards fly Struggle to see through your dirt filled eyes Wincing in pain, you pray for the rain To bring an end to your demise You chose this path that you're on Looking for shelter, there's none Your actions brought you here And now you will be scorched by the sun Pride led you down this lonely road Whispers wormed inside your ears Preaching you'd be better off alone Stars guided you through this terrain But the sun blocked out the darkness Only you and your shadows have remained Stubbornness left you spurned Now the world will watch you burn Drinking from a poisoned well full of worms Thinking that you're a pure and selfless martyr Spitting on those who try to give you water All while you wonder Why am I dying of thirst You will learn Or you will burn Burn In the mouth of the foolish, is a rod of pride But the lips of the wise shall preserve them He that is proud, eats up himself Pride is his own glass, his own trumpet, his own chronicle And whatever praises itself, but in the deed, Devours the deed in the praise Wander aimlessly grasping for a greater prize Falter as your man-made desert melts your dreams Right in front your eyes Suffer Traitor Censor Failure Crawling, refused help defiantly, you're almost out of time Running, try to catch that green oasis You've created in your mind Lies drawing in the Flies drowning out the Cries of laughter Rain down on you all because of pride Open your eyes Or burn alive All because of Pride led you down this burning road The whispers fade from your ears Leaving you in this desert all alone Stars fill your eyes followed by pain Looking back at the trail you blazed There's only sand Nothing else remains
