I was the third grade the first week of spring
The sky so blue the grass turning green
I open the door and took a breath of fresh air
Put one foot forward and fell down a flight of stairs
And damn it man, that's so me
I could probably trip over a completely tied shoe string
I try to brush it off tail between my legs
The fourth graders laughing my face turning red
I feel like I could feel that feeling again
Because my dreams are big and all my margins are thin
And I would fall on my face just like before
I can see the whole place laugh at Tyler Moore
Look he failed like he did in P.E
Should've kept warming the bench like he did for me
I can still hear the voices in the back of my mind
I just keep pressing forward try to leave it behind
I'd get stressed and lay down on the pool floor
And hold my breath until I can't no more
Cause down here I can finally feel alone
Be the king of my castle and hang out in my throne
Until reality hits and I come up for air
I'd take a deep breath and I go down again
Don't wanna real life gotta keep it pretend
I stay in a dream cause I dream to forget
And I remember it all the good and the bad
The debt collector call asking me for my dad
I try to forget and leave it all in the past
But keep the past in the present cause it's all that I have
Memories of what I wish it could be
Letting go of things I wish I could keep
Keep it together while I'm keeping the peace
Last leaf on my family tree
Got my head in the clouds
While I'm sinking in the sand
I say I've got no doubts
But the tide ain't rolling in
