About Let Me Love You Tonight

"Let Me Love You Tonight" is a 1980 song by the American pop and country rock band Pure Prairie League. The lead vocalist for the band at the time was Vince Gill, who would later become a successful country music singer in his own right. Noted saxophonist David Sanborn can also be heard on the track. Taken as the first single from their 1980 album, Firin' Up, "Let Me Love You Tonight" became the band's first (and, to date, only) song to enter the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it peaked at number 10 during the summer of 1980, and remained in the Top 40 for 11 weeks. The song also spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard adult contemporary chart.

Dark clouds are blowing in the wind
He's crossing your mind again
You got that sad sad feeling from a broken heart
Feeling so close to the edge

Let me love you tonight
There's a million stars in the sky
Let me love you tonight
I'll make everything all right

When you find out how good love can be
You're so lost when it's such a free
They say once in your life
You find someone who's right
Someone who loves you like me

Let me love you tonight
There's a million stars in the sky
Let me love you tonight
I'll make everything all right

When the moon has forgotten what the night is about
And the stars can't work and phases out
Hold me tighter than tight
When the daylight comes it will be all right

Let me love you tonight
There's a million stars in the sky
Let me love you tonight
I'll make everything all right

Let me love you tonight
There's a million stars in the sky
Let me love you tonight
I'll make everything all right
