About Ti amo

"Ti amo" (pronounced [ti ˈaːmo]; Italian for "I love you") is a 1977 song recorded by Italian singer Umberto Tozzi from the album È nell'aria...ti amo. It achieved success at the time, becoming a hit in many European countries, including Sweden and Switzerland where it topped the charts. A Spanish version was released as "Te Amo", and had a good success in Spain and Latin America. Within the German-speaking countries a German version by Howard Carpendale also received a great success in 1977, peaking at number two in Germany and number ten in Austria. In 2002, the song was overdubbed as duet with singer Lena Ka under the title "Ti amo (rien que des mots)", with Italian and French lyrics. This version was a success in France and Belgium (Wallonia), reaching the top three. At the time, the original version was re-released and achieved a moderate success in France. As of August 2014, it is the 52nd best-selling single of the 21st century in France, with 393,000 units sold. A French version of this song was recorded by Dalida in 1977. An English version was also recorded by Laura Branigan in 1984, which, most notably, was a hit in Australia (reaching #2). It should not be confused with the Gina G song of the same name from 1997. In 2011, Sergio Dalma took a Spanish-language version of the song to the Top 10 in Spain.

Ti amo
Un soldo, ti amo
In aria, ti amo
Se viene testa vuol dire che basta lasciamoci

Ti amo, wasn’t I good to you?
I did all that I could do
To make you want to be here with me
Thought you loved me

Ma tremo davanti al tuo seno
Ti odio e ti amo
You pulled my world right from under me
Look what you’ve done to me
How could you end it this way
After the love that we made?
God, how I wish you had stayed
Can’t you see that I just want you back?

Ti amo, I never had a clue
That I was losin' you

Apri la porta a un guerriero di carta igienica
E dammi il tuo vino leggero
Che hai fatto quando non c’ero
E le lenzuola di lino

I was blind then, couldn’t face the end
Ti amo, thought we’d go on and on
Thought we had something strong
You pulled my world right from under me
Look what you’ve done to me
Fatti un po’ prendere in giro
Prima di fare l’amore
Vesti la rabbia di pace

Can’t you see that I just want you back?
Ti amo
God, how I love you so
Ricordi chi sono?
Ti amo, ti amo, ti amo, ti amo, ti amo

E dammi il tuo vino leggero (ti amo)
Che hai fatto quando non c’ero
E le lenzuola di lino
Dammi il sonno di un bambino
Che dà
Sogna (sogna) cavalli e si gira (gira)
E un po' di lavoro
You pulled my world right from under me
I said, how could you end it this way
After the love that we made?
God, how I wish you could stay
Can’t you see that I just want you back?

Ti amo, ti amo, ti
Amo, ti amo, ti
Amo
Ti amo, ti amo, ti amo, ti amo, ti amo, ti
Amo, ti amo, ti amo, ti amo, ti
Amo
Ti amo, ti amo, ti amo, ti amo, ti amo, ti
Amo, (ti amo ti) amo
(Ti amo ti) amo

Ti amo, ti amo, ti amo, ti amo
