Home is where I want to be
Pick me up and turn me around
I feel numb, born with a weak heart
I guess I must be having fun

The less we say about it the better
Make it up as we go along
Feet on the ground, head in the sky
It's okay, I know nothing's wrong, nothing

Oh! I got plenty of time
Oh! You got light in your eyes
And you're standing here beside me
I love the passing of time
Never for money, always for love
Cover up and say goodnight, say goodnight

Home, is where I want to be
But I guess I'm already there
I come home, she lifted up her wings
I guess that this must be the place

I can't tell one from the other
I find you, or you find me?
There was a time before we were born
If someone asks, this is where I'll be, where I'll be oh!

We drift in and out
Oh! Sing into my mouth
Out of all those kinds of people
You got a face with a view

I'm just an animal looking for a home and
Share the same space for a minute or two
And you love me till my heart stops
Love me till I'm dead

Eyes that light up
Eyes look through you
Cover up the blank spots
Hit me on the head I got ooh!

10 facts about this song

"This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)" was a song released by the American new wave band Talking Heads from their fifth studio album "Speaking in Tongues" which came out in 1983.
Success on the Charts
The song was never released as a single, but it still made an impact on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart where it peaked at number 62.
Song Interpretation
Known for being one of the band's most popular songs, lead vocalist David Byrne likens the song to a love song, despite the band being better known for their avant-garde lyrics rather than romantic ones.
Musical Composition
Interestingly, the song's unique chord progression is a result of the members switching instruments during composing sessions. This resulted in a less complex, naïve melody which inspired half of its title.
Cover Versions
Over the years, multiple artists have covered the song, including Shawn Colvin, Arcade Fire, and Kishi Bashi. The song's tuneful melody and emotional lyrics have made it a favorite for reinterpretation.

Rarity of the Song's Love Theme
"This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)" is the only song in the band's catalogue that approaches a love song. Byrne noted that, with this song, he tried to write a song that is a love song, but without being cheesy or saying things that had already been said in a million other songs.
Live Version
In the band's concert film "Stop Making Sense", the song took a prominent spot and featured Byrne dancing with a floor lamp, further adding to the song's and the band's iconic status.
