"Letter to Memphis" is a single by the alternative rock band Pixies on the album Trompe le Monde. The song has been described as a melancholy love song about a letter lead singer Black Francis failed to write. "Letter to Memphis" has been commended for being a song that "sticks in your mind", specifically the lyric "Trying to get to you." The song is supposed to be Francis' take on Chuck Berry's song "Memphis, Tennessee." An instrumental version was included as a B-side to "Alec Eiffel" and later became the closing track of their compilation Complete 'B' Sides.  more »

Pixies

Pixies is an American alternative rock band formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1986. The group consists of Black Francis (vocals, rhythm guitar), Joey Santiago (lead guitar), Kim Deal (bass, vocals), and David Lovering (drums). The Pixies achieved relatively modest commercial success in their home country, but were significantly more successful in the United Kingdom and mainland Europe.
