Mr. Jack

Mr. Jack is an American comic strip by Jimmy Swinnerton which ran in William Randolph Hearst newspapers from August 30, 1903 until 1935. Mr. Jack, a philandering playboy tiger, may be the first developed cartoon animal character, a type that has since become a staple in the comics medium. The character emerged in Swinnerton's Hearst feature, The Little Tigers, which began on February 20, 1898. Mr. Jack first appeared on May 17, 1903, and took over the strip; soon, the title of the feature changed to Mr. Jack. more »

Even a King has his moments
When he’s a little glad, or a little sad,
Or a little mad at the world
How do you think he controls it?
What makes you think he will?

What if he loses composure
When you ask for closure
What if he seems like a bastard
Would you close your eyes and remember the days when he seemed
So sweet?

Before he left his throne
Before he left you alone
Now you think about the bad things
Remember how things went wrong

You may hold your tongue
Before the deed is done
The mad King’s gone, gone,
The Kingdom is all your own

So how about you with your reasons,
Seasons of sadness
Maybe just a littlest of madness
You made up atrocious excuses, and used them to hide your pain

Now you can see
That the place in your heart can be free
To be all you want it to be
This world is your own
Rule wisely, your majesty

He may have left his throne
He may have left you alone
You may think about the bad things
And remember how things went wrong

You may hold your tongue
You may sing this song
The mad King’s gone, gone,
The Kingdom is all your own

Yeah this throne’s your own
You can never be alone
You can forget about the bad things
But remember how things go wrong

Yeah the deed is done
This world’s your own
The mad King’s gone, gone,
The Kingdom is all your own

Even a Queen has those moments
When she’s a little glad, or a little sad,
Or a little mad at the world

But it’s up to you to control it
How do you think you will?
