Knowing that the Reaper forsakes not a crop in the field, forsooth

I, admire my nightmares ‘cause I wake relieved
Can’t say the same for my dreams though
I like to open my eyes undeceived

I woke up one morning
To see Reaper stalking
All the darkened corners
Of my heart
I didn’t show the thorning
‘Cause I don’t like sulking
E’en when bitten
By the viper smart
Burning my roses afore they’ve all wilted
‘Cause I knew their fate all along
I see the deltas afore they’ve all silted
And join the dregs where I belong
What I write is my encumbrance
Please don’t bear my load
At my side is stark remembrance
Lo, my pen’s ne’er slowed
