I remember your Daddy sizing me up
Writing me off like a stroke of bad luck
No matter what I did
There was no convincing him
cnd your Momma really liked the boy before me
Said he came from a real nice family
They wanted the best for you
I was a phase you were going through

They said it wouldn't last
Oh, they thought you could do better
We set out to prove ‘em wrong
Hoping it would last forever
Now there's no stopping it, we're still rockin' it
Singing our love song
Seven years and counting baby
We're still going strong
cnd they said it wouldn't last

cnd when that first Thanksgiving came
Can you believe they forgot my name?
Your brother sneered at me
When I said pass the gravy, please
But when I proposed they came around
They couldn't help but see the love we found
cnd on the day we tied the knot
They conveniently forgot

They said it wouldn't last
Oh, they thought you could do better
We set out to prove ‘em wrong
Hoping it would last forever
Now there's no stopping it, we're still rockin' it
Singing our love song
Seven years and counting baby
We're still going strong
cnd they said it wouldn't last

Now when they brag about our kids to all their friends
I shake my head, I bite my tongue instead of reminding them

They said it wouldn't last
Oh, they thought you could do better
We set out to prove ‘em wrong
Hoping it would last forever
Now there's no stopping it, we're still rockin' it
Singing our love song
Seven years and counting baby
We're still going strong
cnd they said it wouldn't last
They said it wouldn't last
They said it wouldn't last
