Possédant un bébé charmant,
Les parents avaient bon courage,
Et chacun travaillait gaîment.
Lorsque rentrait la jeune mère,
Ayant quitté son atelier
On entendait sa voix légère
Chanter en montant l'escalier
Tendant les bras, l'âme joyeuse
L'enfant s'écriait tout heureuse :

Un jour la mère s'alita,
Mais la vaillante créature
A l'enfant cachait son état ;
Pourtant, le soir dans sa chambrette,
Priant, avant de s'endormir,
Qu'elle était triste la pauvrette,

Pleurant tout bas, l'âme en détresse

On essayait de la distraire,
Mais l'ennui pâlissait son front.
Son père alors fit mettre en place
Cet appareil mystérieux
Qui transmet à travers l'espace
Les airs les plus mélodieux.
Or un beau soir du haut des nues
Descendit la chanson connue.
