Paul Whiteman was an American bandleader, composer, and violinist. He was one of the most popular and influential musicians of the early 20th century. Whiteman's orchestra was known for its blend of jazz and classical music, which helped popularize the genre now known as "symphonic jazz." They became extremely successful during the 1920s and 1930s, recording many hit songs and collaborating with notable musicians of the time. Some of their famous recordings include "Rhapsody in Blue" with George Gershwin and "Body and Soul" with Bing Crosby.
