John Kirby Sextet was a jazz group led by bassist and bandleader John Kirby. Active in the 1930s and 1940s, the sextet is known for their sophisticated arrangements and tight ensemble playing. They were influential in the "swing era" of jazz and had a distinctive sound combining jazz with elements of classical music. Some of their popular recordings include "Undecided" and "Front and Center."
