My Pal, My Son is a little one, I know he won't stay this way. From diapers to blue jeans to who knows what, these years flash quickly away. He's too young to be left alone at night, too old to be tucked into bed. And he still wipes his mouth with the back of his hand, despite what his father has said. He's My Pal, My Son, my little one, for a while he'll be mine. All we have are nuggets of memories that we both can polish with time. He's my Pal My Son, my little one, for a while he'll be mine. It's hard to know when to lead him, and when to leave him alone. We have so little time to show them the way, before they're off on their own. There are times I'll try to show him, the right way to get things done. But to him the right way is wrong you see, when it comes, to having fun. At times I feel so frightened, the time slips by so fast. Thank God we have our memories, I hope will forever last. I've taken his hand and shown him the path, the choice is his to make.
