That Co-Ed Party
Bernie Cummins & His New Yorkers
The easy, fast & fun way to learn how to sing: 30DaySinger.com
One of those playful "collegiate" themed presentations. (NOTE: Some of the lyrics in the original recording are difficult to understand. But, to the best of my knowledge, these lyrics have never been posted anywhere online. I have done my best to transcribe these lyrics from the original recording.) (INTRO: All band members) Forty-nine bottles, hanging on the wall. Forty-nine bottles, hanging on the wall. Take one away, from them all, Forty-eight bottles, hanging on the wall. (INSTRUMENTAL VERSE, CHORUSES AND BRIDGE) ("Incidental Singing" by band members) That co-ed party, It's all set for tonight, Don't be high-hat, Though you may wear a tux. Meet on the campus, Eight o'clock's about right, And bring along, A freshman with two bucks. The girls don't know we're coming, But we never fail, Grab your favorite gargoyle (??) I'll take mine with ginger ale, That co-ed party, Oh, we'll dance and we'll pet, That's all there is, There isn't any more!! (All band members:) To the dear old, Hang a mirror, For the hero, Of the campus, Then, we'll all run, Helter-skelter, When it's darkness, On the Phi Delta. To the team, to the team, To dear old Alla-Kazam, (??) To the girls, to the boys, May they never flunk an exam! We'll lead, rah-rah, And a sis-boom-cha-cha-cha! (Instrumental performance of first two choruses.) (For the bridge, Bernie Cummins speaks the following lines:) Now, you've all heard of that sweetheart, Of dear old Sigma Chi, Well, she's all through with "Siggie", For, she found I'm a better guy! (One final instrumental performance of the chorus, and then, end.)
