New Vaudeville Band

The New Vaudeville Band was a group created by songwriter Geoff Stephens in 1966 to record his novelty composition "Winchester Cathedral", a song inspired by the dance bands of the 1920s and a Rudy Vallee megaphone-style vocal. To his surprise, the song became a transatlantic hit that autumn, reaching the Top 10 in the United Kingdom and rising to No. 1 in the United States. The New Vaudeville Band initially was a studio group composed of session players, but Stephens quickly assembled a permanent group to continue recording and to play live shows. The group has been periodically revived since, without Stephens' participation. The New Vaudeville Band placed several singles in the US and UK Top 40 through 1967. Sadie Moonshine's got no love,
She's nobody's turtle dove
No one cares, no one cries,
No one listens to her sighs
The way she looks, it's so bad
The laughing policeman he's so sad
Sadie Moonshine's got no love,
Sob sob boo hoo hoo ah

Sadie Moonshine's feeling glum
She's nobody's special chum
No one to squeeze and hold her tight
No one to keep her warm at night
Give her diamonds in a silver?
But even this won't cheer her up
For Sadie Moonshine's got no love,
Sob sob boo hoo hoo ah

Mona Lisa's got her geezer
Queenie's got her duke
Romeo, he had his Juliet
Jeff Arnold's got Luke

But Sadie Moonshine's got no love
She's nobody's turtle dove
No one cares, no one cries,
No one listens to her sighs
The way she looks, why, it's so bad
The laughing policeman, he's so sad
Sadie Moonshine's got no love,
Sob sob boo hoo hoo ah

Hi. From my childhood I used to listen to these tracks by New Vaudeville Band. Sadie Moonshine was -and also now is- one of my fav.
My idea is that the band was a bit ironic and often their songs referred to historical or social events, sometimes too ancient for me, so that for obvious reasons they elude me. I recently discovered that "I was Lord Kitchener's Valet" was the name of a store of used clothes and uniforms that opened in Swinging London in the 1950s.
"Whatever happened to Phyllis Puke" makes a slight reference to the homosexuality of a thirtythree-year-old bachelor ("and everybody in the village talks about me / and gives me peculiar looks"). This caused the song to be censored in some Asian countries (I saw it on YouTube). So, who was Phyllis Puke, if she was a real person?
Who is also the nightingale who sang in Berkeley Square?
Sadie Moonshine? Does anybody know wo was she?

Thanks a lot for any answers
Bear hugs to all and go on listening to TNVB
