I’ve Had Many Friends – Words & Music by Desmond Allen June 03, 2006 I’ve had many friends through the breadth of time; each one true and dear to this heart of mine. The years absolve the memories; and man we had a lot: playing ball, playing music, working at the shop. Fishing in the streams, spending time in Mexico; skiing, playing golf and learning brand new thoughts. Everyone is special; each one had their time; and time a distance can’t dissolve the bound our hearts entwined. Mark, Jim, Joe, Ralph and Louie, Chuck and Billy too; Jose, Glenn and Mary; Virginia I remember you. I remember Judy, Elaine and her beau. I remember Jane and John; but where did they all go? Roy, Ken, Ron, Paul and Dennis; and more I’ll not forget; with each one I had good times; good times I don’t regret. Denny, Darryll, Rick and Lloyd four brothers I adore; with them I grew to manhood, but the growing is no more. Traveled in this world; accomplished many feats; been lauded and applauded; in this life of mine. Been the pilot and the teacher; champion a time or two; the owner and the leader, and doctor to a few. Met with superstars; wined and dined like royalty. Pampered and esteemed, they just don’t mean a thing. But I’ve had many friends; each one had their time; and time a distance can’t dissolve the bound our hearts entwined. Though some have passed most remain but them I see no more. I guess my only hope is beyond the other shore. Victor, Ethel, Loren, Tim and Cheryl too; these are but a few of the goods friends that I knew. Though some have passed most remain but them I see no more. I guess my only hope is beyond the other shore. I’ve had many friends through the breadth of time; each one true and dear to this heart of mine. Kathy, Nick, Dave and Danny, Brad and Barney too; Jose, Glenn and Mary; Virginia I remember you. I remember Judy, Elaine and her beau. I remember everyone but where does the time go? Ginny, Barb, and Gloria; and more I’ll not forget; with each one I had good times; good times I don’t regret. I’ve had many friends through the breadth of time; each one true and dear to this heart of mine.
