I heard a song the other day
And much to my surprise 
That radio station played a song I wrote
They had already tossed out twice
It was a song I wrote some years ago
Didn’t really go nowhere
Who would think after all this time
It would finally get some air.
     That station said ‘it’s not for us’
     Your presentation’s  marvelous
     But your songs are simply novelous
     But your records won’t spin around here.

Well they’re not exactly what you call rock & roll
Maybe a blues with a twist
Categorize it as alternative 
‘Cause you never heard songs like this
The words will tell the story
Lines don’t have to rhyme 
Just keep up with the rhythm 
Going in and out of time
      Venues say ‘it’s not for us’
      We think your band is marvelous
      But your songs are simply novelous
      And we only do covers here.

Now there are morals to the stories
Messages in the songs
Rhythms that move your body
While your heart strings tag along
I know, by now you must feel it
Maybe even tapping your toes
Who cares what you call it
If it gets inside your soul.

       And if it makes you feel marvelous
       The songs will stay simply novelous  
       And you’re only going to find them here.
