I won't be home for Christmas
There'll be no festive flight I fear
It's like the cherry on top of these chaotic twenties
The never-ending years
I miss playing hockey on the outdoor rinks
And the crisp taste of the ice
Those shortest days go quicker than you'd think
But we'd slow them down with snowball fights
And find your way back home
So you can warm your bones
With hot chocolate and an open fire
Until then we'll have to settle for

This wasn't on my wish list
But it's a Virtual Christmas

I won't be home for Christmas
I won't make it a trend I swear
But there's a public health safety warning
Of which we must be aware
This gingerbread house never felt so empty
Without you by my side
And this fortified eggnog goes down too easy
With sorrow on my mind
Candy canes and chocolate don't even taste sweet
And I think I might know why
Cuz this year we'll have to settle on a

It's the first of this sad milestone
Like a movie plot gone wrong
What a shame, the opposite of Home Alone
I didn't even put out a Christmas tree
There's not lights or mistletoe
The holidays just don't feel the same
When you don't have any snow
No point in leaving out milk and cookies
Saint Nick's in quarantine
I guess we'll have to settle for
