Aaru

In ancient Egyptian mythology, Aaru (; Ancient Egyptian: jꜣrw "Reeds, rushes"), known also as sḫt-jꜣrw or the Field of Reeds, is the heavenly paradise where Osiris rules. It has been described as the ka (a part of the soul) of the Nile Delta. The ancient Egyptians believed that the soul resides in the heart and so, upon death, the Weighing of the Heart occurred. Each human heart is weighed on a giant scale against an ostrich feather, which represents the concept of Maat. Those souls which balance the scales are allowed to start a long and perilous journey to the Field of Reeds, where they will exist in pleasure for all eternity. Hearts heavy with evil tip and fall into the crocodilian jaws of the demon Ammit. After this "second death", the soul is doomed to r… more »

From the smallest cell to the greatest scar
This relentless virus has travelled far
Sustained by an eagerness to learn
Our collective ignorance will make us burn
These wandering creatures now breed to unend
Hold claim to a fate we know is pretend
Weak as a feather, we break one by one
Truth will consume until we're all gone
Without a struggle we cannot evolve
No fearsome threat to test our resolve
Unfold into slumber, sedated and weak
Broken by musings of which we don't speak
Simple souls seek an outward assailant
Greater minds know we'll fall from within
Slowly we fly, higher and higher
We'll implode long before the sun burns our wings
Am I cursed with eyes that see
Should I swim in the blinded sea
Is my pain unfounded or just
Can we change or just turn to dust
Our minds are frayed
Worn by all this unrest
Our hearts betrayed
Scorn by men who know best
I'll wear this guilt like a scar on my chest
Simple souls seek an outward assailant
Greater minds know we'll fall from within
Slowly we fly, higher and higher
We'll implode long before the sun burns our wings
We kill ourselves trying to hide the pain
We burn our souls trying to find our way
The world we've made is slowly killing us
We are malignant
We are cancerous
It's abundantly clear for all to see
We hold on too tight to our Icarus plea
We've molded hell from this floating sphere
You won't find any justice here
Is it wrong to want us to fail
To see us sink beneath this blue veil
Is it wrong to want us to be gone
Am I the only one singing our Swan song
We have proven we're not worthy
We have shown that we're not true
Oh mother bring all your might and fury
Rip us from this dot, pale and blue
We kill ourselves trying to hide the pain
We burn our souls trying to find our way
The world we've made is slowly killing us
We are malignant
We are cancerous
