Sweet catharsis
In waking hours I can speak to the masses
Some, might tell me to get help, with celerity
But I'm paid, for the pain, shared in this therapy
Peering into sea
That eyes perceive
As stretching endlessly
Waves illuminated
Near my ship that cut through midnight breeze
Heavens overcast so I did not see any stars in sky
But I danced with her
And saw two stars in twinkling eyes
O'er time
Clouds did clear
Still my eyes
Only stared
At unpainted black canvas
Even moon refused to share
Crescent smile
Only air
Greeted me with a cool mist
Nonetheless, I reached for the stars
And night shook my outstretched hand
My bones, fading, to a wispy state
That cirrus clouds could understand
Sleep do I on empty stomach
So I hunger for my dreams
Aspirations birthed on hammock
Rarely ever leave its seams
Clickety-clack of the nails on pavement
Telling that beast is behind me
Knowing that Publican's looking for payment
And that all of my water is salty
I called Mama
Just to tell her
That her baby
Made more cheddar
But I don't think she knew what to say
Now, I know this sounds grandiose
But I feel that my kin are blind 'cause they're close
Though I know they still love me
Saw they greatness
Then grew weary
Some mornings I wake and greet the sun
And I ponder whether heavens want me to go find the one
I'm not of the opinion I need a flock to own the sky
But, if I need to find a birdie, want a ride-or-die
I grab the
Reins of my dreams
And I ride them like a barnacle
Sextant from above
Given for my travels nautical
Woke up at midnight and grabbed my pencil like a pistol
Dreams evinced the truth and I'll deliver what I harkened
Haunted by the kinds of thoughts that make the body tremble
But that's what happened to the greats that looked to sky and bargained
They called me a solution
So my eyes stayed peeled for pipette
Perils are a fine chisel for my stone mindset
Dancing in the heavens
On a feeble cloud
I've found the fastest to unwind
Is oft the tightest wound
Mother told me, flip my pillow
When I have, a new night terror
But even in my waking hours
I can see the nightmare there
Could have stayed a little longer in a university
Laboring in land where sleep felt like a mortal enemy
Choice to be the subject of their textbooks or get new degree
Not to say inherently it's mutual exclusivity
Pray with both my eyes open
And plane my wood against the grain
E'en if you tear down curtain
You still do so upon the stage
The fickle water whispers secrets
Then retreats to where the rest reside
Dissipative structures kissing liner on its starboard side
Gleaning their identity
From precedence not permanence
Thick cowl of night, serenity
Unbroken chain of like events
Keep your trophies
I will keep my trochees
I am doing well without a blanket
Iambs warm me
I would rather be a weed
Than a rose
For no one bats an eyelash
When it through the pavement grows
I danced
Until dawn
Saw the sun
Prance along
With a paintbrush in its rays
No one asks how knight goes on
After fighting hellish spawn
Does he tire of the pawns he slays
Midas paid dearly for gold
But not every deal's bad at crossroads
I stay audacious
Though the crow
Told me what lies at the end of river's flow
When sun sinks 'neath horizon again
And stupor from the liquor of sleep begins
I'll be prepared to meet my dreams awake
