I used to write you letters you'd never read
'Cause we swore we wouldn't talk anymore
But I couldn't bear
The time becoming a distance between us
Now I'm writing this and I'm okay
Just like I longed to be back then
But that doesn't mean
When I pass your street, that I don't feel a pang
The flashbacks to when you were mine
You brought me the sun
When there was nothing but rain falling down
I can see it in the photographs, you turned the lights back on
By just being around
And you will always be yellow to me
Like the cars that we'd spot
Back when we'd go to the park
I walk through there sometimes but it doesn't hurt
I just smile
Promise we'll be alright
We lived in different worlds, but for a while
Our paths were perfectly aligned
And we had different dreams
Different ways to be
It couldn't last, but it did for a while
Oh, and that's always gonna count
Oo oh
You brought me the sun
When there was nothing but rain falling down
I can see it in the photographs, you turned the lights back on
By just being around
And you will always be yellow to me
Like the cars that we'd spot
Back when we'd go to the park
I walk through there sometimes but it doesn't hurt
I just smile
Promise we'll be alright
I thought we'd be friends
But we're no exception to a rule as old as time
Got to let what we had be what it was
Got to let the past stay where it belongs
I'll read back your letter, it always makes me feel better
To know I was loved by you
I'm never gonna feel bitter
I'm never gonna look back
And regret loving you
You took away my blue
You brought me the sun
When there was nothing but rain falling down
I can see it in the photographs, you turned the lights back on
By just being around
And you will always be yellow to me
Like the cars that we'd spot
Back when we'd go to the park
I walk through there sometimes but it doesn't hurt
I just smile
Promise we'll be alright
