That first sip might as well be water
From the second that it hits my lips
Same old burn, new why the hell bother
If it's always going down like this

I could take this bottom half of this fifth of Jack
And pour it right down the drain
Or just stay right here 'til the glass is clear
You ain't comin' back either way

I've been keepin' the boys real busy down in Lynchburg, Tennessee
Got this front porch tab wide open
Could kill the bottle but you'll still be killin' me
This black label band-aid ain't workin' like it supposed to
It ain't no use
'Til they start makin' somethin' 'missin' you' proof
It don't matter how much when I'm drinkin' 'bout us
Baby, I'm just wastin' whiskey
(I'm just wastin')

Oughta grab all your things out the closet
Every picture, every old pair of jeans
Pile 'em up in the back
Take a pull, strike a match
And pour that bottom shelf out like gasoline
It'd do more than it's doing for me

I've been keepin' the boys real busy down in Lynchburg, Tennessee
Got this front porch tab wide open
Could kill the bottle but you'll still be killin' me
This black label band-aid ain't workin' like it supposed to
It ain't no use
'Til they start makin' somethin', missin' you proof
It don't matter how much when I'm drinkin' 'bout us
Baby, I'm just wastin' whiskey
(I'm just wastin' whiskey)

I could take this bottom half of this fifth of Jack
And pour it right down the drain
Or just stay right here 'til the glass is clear
You ain't comin' back either way

I've been keepin' the boys real busy down in Lynchburg, Tennessee
Got this front porch tab wide open
I killed the bottle, girl, but you're still be killing' me
This black label band-aid ain't workin' like it supposed to
It ain't no use
'Til they start makin' somethin' 'missin' you' proof
It don't matter how much when I'm drinkin' 'bout us
Baby, I'm just wasting' whiskey

(I'm just wastin' whiskey)
Yeah, baby I'm just wastin' whiskey (I'm just wastin' whiskey)
(I'm just) wastin' whiskey
