Twenty-one years of age
Wise as a sage—emptied of rage
With the stage presence of a veteran
Entering the arena
My demeanor clean up confusion
You indecisive and I’m chosin’
You standin’ still and I’m cruisin’
I’m still standing for the movement
Kneeling for the anthem
In solidarity not as a tantrum
I’m enchanted by our potential
Without Christ it’s what we’ll never enter
I’m fed up with the lack of empathy
And white supremacy using Scripture to justify their enmity
They’re their own enemy and destroy whatever legacy they seek to protect
Lack self-respect—obsessed with division
But we gon’ speak until they listen
It don’t require higher education
To see our black family isn’t treated properly
This country’s stolen property
Abducted human beings with ferocity
For commodity—many atrocities
I say this somberly—sing this song with me

We don’t walk alone
You’re not alone
I am walking with you
We must keep along this broken road
Going home, yeah
This dream is not our own
You need to know
We can’t dream without a reason
Ours is freedom
If you need us we’ll be kneeling to rise up

White boy grew up in diversity
In leadership at my university
I say these lyrics urgently
The only one of my siblings who isn’t black at all
Still I’m standing tall with Colin for calling a ship a ship; calling a whip a whip
In return he got hit with it
Feels like it’s gotten started
These times is different
We ain’t falling back—We aint falling flat
Mistreatment of standup citizens—we won’t stand for that
We kneeling cause we tired, we kneeling to inspire
We kneeling cause the gridiron is a platform
This is more than just a rap song
I implore you to explore the circumstances and conditions that others live with
Place yourself in their position
Relinquish the grip on your privilege in humility
Our greatest disability is our greatest capability
My lips I’m never sealing thee
I hear my brother say to me Take a knee with me

We don’t walk alone
You’re not alone
I am walking with you
We must keep along this broken road
Going home, yeah
This dream is not our own
You need to know
We can’t dream without a reason
Ours is freedom
If you need us we’ll be kneeling to rise up

In hostile war zones there’s rules of engagement—no excuse for impatience
Too quick on the triggers you’ll spend your days incarcerated
So why are police unloading magazines in the streets?
Then get vacation—it’s sad
The best tool to get away with murder is a badge
It’s unacceptable—it’s detestable
Unforgettable are dead children
So is an unconvicted villain
Healing begins with repentance and forgiveness
I’m not bashing law enforcement, their job is tough
But they need to be held as accountable us
We’ve had enough, in only God we trust
It’s a must that we fight
My six-year-old sister told me she wishes she was white
I was blind-sighted like a monster block
Told her, baby black is beautiful
You perfect the way that you are
For me it was the opposite
The wanna-be-black white boy
Misunderstood for the language that I’m talking with

We don’t walk alone
You’re not alone
I am walking with you
We must keep along this broken road
Going home, yeah
This dream is not our own
You need to know
We can’t dream without a reason
Ours is freedom
If you need us we’ll be kneeling to rise up
