As infants and children we would ride in cars with
No seat belts, airbags
None of these things at all

Riding in the back of a pickup truck
Was a special treat for little Indians and little cowboys

O woo woo woo woo oo

We were put to sleep on tummies in our baby cribs
All colored in lead-based paint
We had no childproof lids
There weren’t any plugs in the electric outlets
And some of us had to learn not to stick a pair of scissors into them
O – no no o no

We spent hours of hours building go karts out of scraps
Only to find out we forgot to put some brakes on it

Nevertheless these generations have been the best inventors ever

And you are one of them
You are one of them
Of these generations

And you are one of them
You are one of them
Of these generations

We left early in the morning to play all day
Swimming in dangerous newly flooded quarrel lakes
And we actually made it without starving to death
While countrywide the shops closed on 5:30
Or perhaps 6:00 pm

We drank water from the garden hose
But we didn’t get diseases from it
Like we never get lost
Even no one was able to reach us all day long
We had no mobiles
No cell phones
And we were fine
We had friends
Friends
‘Cause we went outside to find them
We had no DVD
No internet
No BBD
Not a thousand different channels on TV
No 5G panels
We made friends

And you are one of them
You are one of them
Of these generations

And you are one of them
You are one of them
Of these generations

The past fifty years have been an explosion
Of new ideas
Of innovations
We are still young at heart
And after running into the bushes
We learned to solve the problems
We learned to solve the problems by ourselves

We got injured in action
Fell out of trees
Broke teeth and bones
No following proceedings for anyone else but your own
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was actually unheard of
Mum and dad was sided with the law and the officers who nailed us
We had to deal with disappointment
With failures
But we had responsibility
And mud pies
And FREEDOM!
And we still could see the eagles fly …

We made friends
‘Cause we went outside to find them
We had no DVD
No internet
No BBD
Not a thousand different channels on TV
No 5G panels
We made friends

And you are one of them
You are one of them
Of these generations

And you are one of them
You are one of them
Of these generations

I wanna hug my friends

I wanna touch

I wanna love

I wanna keep you and

I wanna give my hands
