I gotta stay true to my roots
Never accepted a handout I was born with all my juice
I said I'm always chasing W's 'cause I can never lose
Now my mission proves that
I'm the sturdy one that made it through (Uh)
I gotta stay true to my roots
Never accepted a handout I was born with all my juice
I said I'm always chasing W's 'cause I can never lose
Now my mission proves that
I'm the sturdy one that made it through, listen

(Young nigga losing faith)
Couldn't see the light of the tunnel staring right in my face
(Staring in my face)
Couldn't fathom how crabs in a bucket climb up out they cage
(Climb up out they cage)
But that mentality was instilled in me at an early age
(At an early age)
Said over time, I had to rewire my brain
(Rewire my brain)
Realized the only way to make it out was grinding through the pain
(Grinding through the pain)
Opened my eyes & seen that sunlight shining, right behind the rain
(Right behind the rain)
Now my vision clear, the rain is gone, the narrative is changed
(Narrative is changed)
Used to think I was depressed, nah nigga that's just the stress
(Just the stress)
Sitting on your ass so long, stand up nigga & take a step
(Take a step)
'Cause this first one only gonna lead you right into the next
(Right into the next)
The stairs is tall, but that's the price you pay to earn respect
(Earn respect)
Used to think I was depressed, nah nigga that's just the stress
(Just the stress)
Sitting on your ass so long, stand up nigga & take a step

'Cause this first one only gonna lead you right into the next
(Into the next)
Can't cheat your way through the grind
Just work harder than all the rest (All the rest)
I gotta stay true to my roots
Never accepted a handout I was born with all my juice
I said I'm always chasing W's 'cause I can never lose
Now my mission proves that
I'm the sturdy one that made it through (Uh)
I gotta stay true to my roots
Never accepted a handout I was born with all my juice
I said I'm always chasing W's 'cause I can never lose
Now my mission proves that
I'm the sturdy one that made it through, listen
The highs and lows in life is like a rollercoaster, take a ride
(Said take a ride)
I been grinding for some years, how can niggas act all surprised
(Act all surprised)
I knew when I was young that Tamii was a nigga built to thrive
(I was built to thrive)
But now my dreams are my reality, can't tell me otherwise
(Can't tell me otherwise)
I'm a one of one nigga and you can see it in my eyes
(See it in my eyes)
I plan to have five Grammys by the time I turn 25
(By the time I'm 25)
Got the utmost confidence in myself, what the f*ck is pride
(What the f*ck is pride)
You niggas had your chance, it's my time for the spotlight step aside
(So step aside)
I gotta stay true to my roots
Never accepted a handout I was born with all my juice
I said I'm always chasing W's 'cause I can never lose
Now my mission proves that
I'm the sturdy one that made it through (Uh)
I gotta stay true to my roots
Never accepted a handout I was born with all my juice
I said I'm always chasing W's 'cause I can never lose
Now my mission proves that
I'm the sturdy one that made it through, listen
