Ill-Advised

Ill-Advised: Presidential Health and Public Trust is a 1992 book by historian Robert Hugh Ferrell examining politically motivated cover-ups of serious medical issues afflicting U.S. presidents while they were in office. Although Dwight Eisenhower is the main focus of the book, it covers the presidency for a century, from Grover Cleveland's mouth cancer in 1893 to the health of George H.W. Bush, then-current president when the book was first published. All of these instances, Ferrell argues, raised serious questions about the fitness of each president to hold office, as well as whether the presidents and their physicians violated the public trust in keeping the incidents secret. more »

Walking alone
No holidays
Whiplash gauze
I'm back again
Sleeping alone
I need something safe
And you need
Someone else to blame
Angels atone
We fell from grace
My heart's a pedestal
You're a wrecking crane
If heaven's above
Then I don't wanna stay
But like a flightless dove
I can't escape
Touch me
I'm a thief among the pride
An outcast
But I don't play
Kiss me
I'm a vision come to life
These days
We make our own reality
I just wanna feel okay
But I cannot find a way
To keep my head
Above the waves
I forgive you
The curtains drawn
With a bottle at the bottom
I'd be remiss
To answer your call
You know what I want
They'll say
Oh what a shame
Only if we knew what to say
Such a tragedy
I can't believe
One more smile that will never be
Dying alone
No one was saved
Like a shipwrecked love
I've washed out to sea
Circling above
I'm the vultures' prey
Like a Judas clone
You're no friend to me
I just wanna feel okay
But I cannot find a way
To keep my head
Above the waves
Touch me
I'm a thief among the pride
An outcast
But I don't play
Kiss me
I'm a vision come to life
These days
We make our own reality
I just wanna feel okay
But I cannot find a way
To keep my head
Above the waves
Wrapped in a cold embrace
I made a mistake
A permanent impulsive choice
I took too much
Now I'm slipping away
Oh God, I want to stay
Waking alone
I'm not the same
A stardust buzz
Machines keep me awake
We once were in love
Now all I feel is pain
So I pack my bags
Ready to start again
I just wanna feel okay
But I cannot find a way
To keep my head
Above the waves
Touch me
I'm a thief among the pride
An outcast
But I don't play
Kiss me
I'm a vision come to life
These days
We make our own reality
I just wanna feel okay
But I cannot find a way
To keep my head
Above the waves
I just wanna feel okay
But I cannot find a way
To keep my head
Above the waves
