I walk up to my school with a gun in my backpack
I look at the smiling faces and started heading back

There's a guy in a van and he's doing what it seems
So I grab the junkies needle and stab him in the eye
Then bail when the cops come to help the kid and arrest the guy

The cop said "hey ya can't be squatting here"

They said I might not make it on the way to the hospital
I choke up some blood and laugh "I guess we'll never know"

I wake up bloody in the hospital bed
With a throbbing pain shooting thru-out my head
Across the room I see a little girl hooked up on chemo
So I stagger out of bed and walk up to the piano
As Ii tap away some patients gather around
They seem to find some joy in my own sound
I made myself a promise after seeing the smile of the girl
If it's the last thing I'll do I bring some good on this world

I got some cash playing piano in the mall
Soon enough I was playing concert halls
But I knew what to do with the insight in my head
I went back to the alley found the junkie and got him fed
I looked at him and said I have a place he could stay
But he's gotta put down the drugs cuz there is a better way
I showed him the world of music and how to make cool sounds
He joined up in a band and turned his life around
