Its opening is slim, but it waits for you there
Atop the highest mountain, where the atmosphere is thin
And the coolness of the air encompasses everything, with a dense fog

Your footholds define you, and the way that you intuit up that mountainside
Shall be the course of your creation, or the death upon your mind
Every step is vital to the destiny you are building
No one knows what is there, but it is said
That transformation is of a certain magic

I believe in the stories
That it is possible to become more than what is seen
And I shall step into that dream
When my days are at their end
I do not intend to betray you
I will lead you there if I can

We're high above the treeline
And the currents come alive
Smell the crisp of nature and feel the wilderness
I can sense the evergrowing anticipation
That the mountain holds inside
A forcefield of change
A curtain of becoming
Like a butterfly from a tree
This process is ancient and obscure
We have not seen the metamorphosis take place
But we are certain that it is
Legendary mountain
Your stories of those
Who have come before
This is our approach
Our reckoning

A storm is gathering high above the cliffs
Gentle rain fall down upon us
And beat with evermore splendor
Your persistence is magnified
The crest awaits as we welcome your reticent waters
Cloak your true intentions
And give us everything you've got
We have not come here to dally
We are open and secure with resolve
To penetrate the question, at all costs
Our very lives hang in the balance
And everything is bright, with aptitude

Like a desert of the air, invisible and charmed
Vistas of illusion bedazzle the mind's eye
To go beyond all forms material
To the wells of light inside
Our retinas are ill-equipped to ascertain truth
But that is what you will change for us
And that is why we are here

I opened a door, and she was nowhere to be seen
The illusions of fantasy were thick in the pressing storm
All was but a memory that happened long ago
My love had taken her own life
We cannot know the future you see
Silver sails broken
My quest had been in vain
There was no one waiting for me here
She had spiralled down to a dark place
Where the light can never shine
Eurydice my love
I cannot reach you there
And so I take the tragedy
Of what you mean to me
And invert it now
I am converted to your path
I will reach you somehow

I can see her turn to me, a holographic encounter
Somewhere in the countryside
Beneath a willow tree
Sometime in the 19th century
We are together, and although the dream isn't real
I welcome the suggestion and posit what may be

We awaken to find ourselves resting on the summit
A new day is here, and the memory remains
It's not the same as it was yesterday
For we have changed
And it appears that the world has too
Little, subtle signs that we're no longer where we started
The extent of which shall become clear through exploration
I can see why the mountain is a passage
And its legend is valid, perhaps below
We'll meet others who came this way
But what's certain is that we cannot turn back now

Am I a man, who dreamt of becoming a mountain
Or a mountain dreaming that I was a man
It is clear that the question does not satisfy
For both are true, they are identical one and the same

Let's go down the path now and see what there is to see
Follow me, or I can follow you if you'd like

You follow your heart
And all things fade in a soft vignette
That ushers in the wind
Where to now I can only pretend to know
For what's to come is yours
As everything has shown
