He was over it
His whole life he spent
Chasing after crowds
But then he had a thought
That he never had a thought
A single one of his own
And so he left behind the second set
Of textbooks titled
How to live you life
Without a nickel or a dime
Alone and free for the first time
I guess he'll have to find it for himself
He went into the woods
Far from the neighborhoods
To live deliberatley
And all his friends would say
That he lost his mind that day
But who were they to judge him after all
Because he found himself some clarity
A road to walk
A light to guide him home
Away from all the futile things
Away from all the wanna bees
A way to find what really matters now
Because before he left
He watched his TV set
Trying to fit in
He liked Mandilordian the most
Cuz John would always post
A picture or a quote on his screen
And he'd watched his favorite news
Cuz it always shared the views
That he'd been taught to hold
Until he left behind that other life
To find some meaning on his own
He faced what nature had to throw
Through the storms it seemed he'd grown
He finally felt like he just might belong
Before he went away
He'd sometimes spend his days
Listening to music
He'd love all this crap
Nashville shit and mumble rap
Pop by nature and tune
Then one day on his own
He found a radio
And listened to classic rock
McCartney, Lennon
Waters, and Dylan
Artists speaking their truths
They seemed to help him to find his own
I think that's the point of making art
Travelin' throughout the wild
Throughout his mind he spent a while
Contemplating bigger things in life
Before he left town
He'd send his streaks around
Looking for approval
And he'd post twice a day
About how everything was great
And other insincere notions
But now he didn't really care
What everybody else thought of him
And he didn't spend another day
Another bit of energy
Searching for meaningless likes
But one day he felt alone
He longed for is home
So he decided to return
Came back a wiser man
But people didn't understand
Who he had become
Cuz more at peace it seemed
But he started war with things
Society deems as important
And radical they'd say
Cuz he's always say
There's someting artificial to this life
He is now a rooted man
He comprehends and understands His beliefs
Because the lessons he learned from
The road he walked and God above
He has some pride in being his own man
And unlike Chris from Vox
He ponders thoughtful thoughts
That really make a difference in his life
And he still doesn't think
That he knows everything
He still has his doubts
So he opened up the second set
Of textbooks tiled how to live your life
He read through pages again
Looking through a different lense
They weren't all right but they weren't wrong
And he would hold unto this day
Through what we here and what we say
Everybody's gotta find it for themselves
