2018 I was doing up uni
Coursework, labs got the kid all moody
Mum called said he got sick
Thought it was minor, nothing too booky
When he was coughing, I thought it was nothing
Then he lost weight, it was mad, it was shocking
His health quickly went downhill
In and out of the wards no stopping
Spent Christmas in the ward by his bedside
It was far from the best times
Yeah, he got diagnosed with cancer
Not a smoker but it spread wide
We stayed and prayed
Hands were laid that's faith displayed
But then he got worse, then he got better
Then he got worse so nothing did change
Couldn't breathe or parlé
Holding his hand as he struggled to pray
You see my dad was a man of faith
He trusted the Lord would deliver and save
2019 and back on the drip
Still hanging for his life 'cause he weren't gonna quit
My mum still slept in the ward
And I was in uni praying
Then mum called out of the blue
Not a word was said
I asked mum "are you good, what's wrong?"
She just wept and wept
Hopped in a cab from Midlands to ends with speed
That's straight to the hospital bed
And I saw him lay there peaceful
But I just lost my head
My dad died
March of 2019 when I cried
Fell into depression I weren't in my right mind
Presently honouring his death with my life
