Apartment to apartment
They say
Home is where your heart is
Don't know
Where to start this
My life, I reminisce
Should've been smarter
Used to walk on water
Community pool concreted
So stuck in the deep end
But never defeated
Send you what you need
Though honestly
Sometimes I feel like you're using me
Maybe it's my insecurities
Send you everything 'cuz you're family
Bump the album don't skip
'Cuz you like the sound
Ignore the hate
Those road blocks will slow you down
Never left their home town
But they say they've been around
Don't let 'em stop your drive
Never be a passenger in your own ride
Subject to subject I jump
I can't be contained
So many thoughts I process
Trying to stay sane
Please help me refrain
You do not like me
Trust, I feel the same
Once had anger too
So I can not blame
But look in the mirror
You're passing the shame
I'm serious, no joke
I don't want no smoke
Not addicted
But couldn't go a day without it
How about it
Never anticipated
Waking up immediately intoxicated
I hate it
I wanna be full color, never faded
I should have just spectated
Every move calculated
Sometimes I'm separated from my thoughts
I'm not what I thought
When I pass
The day that I fall, don't comment on my wall
Speak to my mother
She will need to hear from all ya'll
While I'm on the subject
Never cared about the drip
What I look like
Damned if I'm in a new whip
While mom's sitting back seat
Uber for the trip
Sis told me I always saw differently
Whitney, see the beauty in you
Get back to the pen
Writing... It's what you love to do
And Chell
I feel like you're stuck in one
You act like you don't care
But cried the most for grams
So I know the heart's there
Tearing up writing the lyric
I know you don't wanna hear it
You're talented
I ain't trying to break your spirit
Charades... You always would amaze
At heart, you're a performer
You belong on stage
With me
Just trying to help you see
Passing hate has never been my cup of tea
Sticks and stones break my bones
And words effect me
Come see
I don't condone
Let me set the tone
I'm a frequent flyer
But never home
Cities, countries I roam
While my head's down scrolling through my phone
Ironically, just thinking about home
The good days
Does that mean I'm in the bad
Oh snap! Not depressed
But feeling kind of sad
Laugh at me
While you battle all your insecurities
Laying in bed with the pillow on my head
Listen to the beat to hear what I said
I'm telling you what I do every night
Before I go to bed
Take a deep inhale
So I don't feel dead
Pen to the paper
Get the melodies out of my head
Keeping the family fed
Idling but, staying on read
This is a pit stop
I'm still in the race
I'm gonna do what it takes
Wax museum
I'm surrounded by fakes
Younger me was great
Present me might not have what it takes
I say I'm gonna be there but I'm a flake
Magician every move I anticipate
Loner belong to no clan
Misdirection
You're looking at the wrong hand
No joke, I'm a stand up man
Damn, no more headphones
While running on the street
Actually no more miles for me
Ain't gonna have my last breath
Face down on concrete
Rest in piece Arbery
They're not sorry for what they've done
Just a black man on a run
Shot twice in the chest
One in the hand
How are you a fucking man
And you have a son
Who helped you get it done
Two cowards with a gun
Both in prison now
So ya'll can enjoy that run
For the rest of your life
Think about the mother
She doesn't have a son
You sit next to yours
Surrounded by bars
As close those doors
Lost hers, but you have yours
Too late to repent
The bullets have been sent
In her heart, she now has a dent
Nothing will change with the new President
My energy is spent
On things that have gone and went
I just want to say
Rest in piece to all the countless lives lost
In this never ending battle
Based on skin tone alone
And whether you understand it or not
We're going through it
And we still have so much more to conquer
Before we're not only seen as equals
But treated as such
And thank you for listening
