I reckin' y'all might want to hold on tight Cause I'm locking the hubs we gonna get mud on here tonight This dirt road yonder in the holler ain't nobody around Lower down the tailgate get out the shine good friends pass it on down Away from the big city holler kinda thing All them city slickers with that stuff they can keep all that bling I'd rather wear some beat up old hand me down clothes that's used Than have that overpriced China made name brand shirts and shoes Them foreign sports cars are a blast and rockets are fun But we need to remember to spend USA made right here so we don't come undone All that foreign products we can buy too Just remember to spend right here for that red white and blue I'm a patriotic good old southern boy to the T Been down about every river in the Carolina's and East Tennessee Seems like in the south there ain't a mountain I ain't seen BBQ coleslaw cornbread and that sweet tea I'm a good old southern boy to a T But I ain't got a racist bone in me I'm a hillbilly gangster hippie if you please A jacked up truck tie died shirt listening to rap music come on please I've had all kinds of Ford's same with Chevrolet I bought a Jeep to put out in my driveway I live up yonder in Minnesota where it's cold and snows I crank up the heater and radio as far as it will go We got 10,000 lakes big deer and birch trees Way up north they got Moose and Bear and eagles flying free Deer stands hunting shacks campfires kicked back Good people the farmer stopped by with a fresh sweet corn sack Small town folks just getting by on a few bucks and change Some work at the factories and some work at the Iron Range Minneapolis got jobs that pay real good But with all the high crime I think I'll stick to my woods The protesters burned everything down But they didn't come into the country because they knew they'd get beat down Them farmer boys raised on hockey sticks already missing a tooth They jacked up trucks all fired up ready to let loose I'm a good old southern boy down to the T But I ain't got a damn racist bone in me I'm good with everybody I can keep it cool Just don't come around me acting like no damn fool When I say a southern boy it's not a geographical thing It's a philosophical hospitality mindset that I bring with me Democrat republican black or white I'm cool with all I love to watch peoples eyes the Blue Ridge Mountains in the fall After high school in Tennessee, I moved in with this old black man He taught me about the blues in life he laid down the facts man I'd go to the ghetto and I witnessed poor first hand Too bad them rich guys ain't spreading around for that little man They's one thing growing up that I used to love to go see That's the beautiful mountains and sacred feathers of Cherokee Always met with wisdom beauty and sincere handshake Thankful for every feather I never took more than I needed to take In Minnesota, I became friends with a neighbor on the other side of my fence He had a purple motorcycle went by a symbol then he eventually switched it back to Prince All them late nights watching him play the guitars and sing The memories I'll cherish in my mind what a beautiful thing I wish I could do like he did And I ain't nowhere that good But I'll remember that stuff and I soak it in baby umm I'm a southern boy to a T ain't a racist bone in me Now I love me some bonfire Minnesota Nice But I can't get excited about protests and them nonsense fights The cops had a guy down with a knee on his neck Saying I can't breathe and he died then look what happened next Lake Street in Minneapolis set on fire and businesses turned upside down Got me thinking about living in that country Tennessee town My son my woman my dogs back in the woods The holler between some mountains sounds real good Get my corn my taters my maters my beans in the ground Second week in August them blueberries is all around That simple southern life harmony and peace Let's do the deal we can keep it real If you'll be a friends I'll be your friend Whether you want to north or down south east coast west don't matter Ain't no bribe worth worth the price Keep it real do it right you can look back it's always nice I'm a southern boy to the T I was taught to never steal and be cool Don't take handouts work hard as I can And if you see a guy struggling help him if you can A southern boy to the T I try to bring a smile goodness everywhere that I can ever be
