This is the tale of a rock and roll man who lived in a rock and roll band
Down in Louisiana, there lived a man named Charlie
Charlie was born in Louisiana at around the time Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley invented rock and roll
As Charlie grew up, it didn't take too long 'fore he started fallin' in love with this music
One day…one night
Charlie decided to run away from home
Only things he took with him was a bag of clothes and an old guitar
He was determined to make it big in the big city playin' that rock and roll music
He was performing in a nightclub with a three-piece band he got together when a record producer walked in and liked what he heard
Charlie cut his first album
And from that day on, Charlie wasn't playin' in no small nightclubs and barnyards
He was playin' in stadiums and outdoor theaters and such
His rock and roll brought him to the top
