I boarded my ship and I headed out west
I threw out my bags and I tried to forget
All that I had left behind
And focused on everything that I would find

The wind it blew and it filled my sails
It carried me 'cross the crest and the swell
Through many storms I drifted and swayed
'Til I arrived at the doldrums and laid

I sat in the hull with my head in the clouds
The breeze did not blow and no waves were around
I climbed up the mast and I dove straight down
And swam 'cross the ocean til I came to a sound

I stood on the shore with my feet in the sand
The sun in the sky above lush, fertile land
The fruit, it hung so low in the trees
With schools of fish that were swimming in streams

Then I set off to make a home
A place to rest these tired bones
But my steps led to a trail
So straight up the mountain, I scaled

I scaled up the mountain 'til I came to the peak
I looked at the line where the sky met the sea
I thought of the distance I had traveled to be
Alone on an island, again it seems
