I saw a church and I told myself I could use the good lord's help I can't do this anymore There is hope but my sins run deep I keep them locked inside of me Where only god can see And only he be shown I need strength I need faith Am I forgiven only god can say I see that steeple and I have to pray I need religion everyday I once drove down the Devils road Passed the crooked tree to Montreal Stories told us stay away Don't go there anymore I saw the church as we drove away I still remember to this day The ravens all flew away And circled around the steeple For years I looked for that ole church Folks said it had burned What is left of it was taken by the people I never looked for it again I closed those doors I headed west Didn't talk about it anymore But it was haunting me I need strength I need faith Am I forgiven only god can say I see a steeple and I have to pray I need religion everyday
