Even when I'm feelin' good I know it may not last long
Just to smile, I have to put a mask on
A broken heart but there's no way to put a cast on
My life is like a rocket ship; I need to blast off
Not to say I haven't reached a couple goals
I just wish my heart didn't have so many holes
They say there's no place I can't go
But I have learned that certain rainbows have no pot of gold
Never forgettin' holdin' Lena for the first time
I wonder what's goin' on up in her mind
Does she know that we're dedicating our lives
To makin' sure her time on this earth will be worthwhile?
I hope I'm ready for all my responsibilities
Eventually there's more to life than makin' killin' beats
Mom had bigger things in mind when she whipped me by that willow tree
I used to be worry free; now that isn't me
Reality is somethin' I have trouble holdin' on to
Maybe it's 'cause I have nobody that I can talk to
Maybe it's 'cause there's no category I belong to
Maybe it's 'cause I go through the motions like a walkthrough
And I look different in the eyes of other people
Life is a haystack; I guess I'm just a needle
Life's a big puzzle, I guess I'm just one of the pieces
I guess I'll just end up a P.E. teacher
It just feels like I'm reachin' for so much more
I know I've touched a few lives; I wanna touch more
I'm hard on myself, and I don't know what for
I'm at the front porch, I'll get to the front door
Lately I've just been livin' in a big fog
Managin' my issues tends to be a big job
Feels like I'm dyin' from all the stress in my nog
But the good die young; guess I'll live long

Met this girl, out of ten's an eleven
Some of the girls on this campus look like they're straight outta heaven
I know that sounds desperate; but I never let 'em
Get my attention away from the various places I'm headed
I gotta stay focused and keep my eyes on the prize
My confidence is higher than some kites in the skies
But realistically I don't know if I can survive
The life I wanna pursue if it's what I decide
Time is not the only thing you have to invest
To make it for real, and actually have some success
It takes a lot of money so I'm savin' my checks
And all of these setbacks just make me depressed
But at this point, I've gone too far to stop now
And time's tickin' with the hands on the clock now
I sit around and think about albums to drop now
In college, but I really wanna drop out
It's been a hot summer, now it's finally coolin' down
Leaves are turnin' brown and startin' to fall to the ground
There's a cool breeze with the air that surrounds
I used to leave my jacket hangin' but I'm wearin' it now
Midterm grades are comin' out in a minute
I'll show 'em to ya even though it's none of your business
They're all lookin' fine, not one of 'em isn't 
Because I came to this institution intendin' to get it
The biggest thing I worry about would probably be the student loans
I worry about 'em more than findin' cars and choosin' homes
It makes me feel like I'm so trapped; there's no room to grow
When it comes to stress, money puts me through the most
So I'm just tryin' to live my life in the cheapest way
Don't get it twisted, I still tip and let 'em keep the change
And keep my confidence the way I keep my grades: up
That's my GPA
