Dark city, rain all day
Wishing you were here to blow the clouds away
But it’s sprinkling raindrops onto my head instead

Now I’m driving, tapping the wheel
Wondering all the time if you remember me
If you’ll be waiting
If you’ll be there
Where you said

The joint strands of a love affair
Are held together by a breath of air
I see you and you see me
But never ever how it’s meant to be

A fickle fate motivates the soul
The things we do are out of our control
I’ll get you back here in this world with me
To share the dream, to share the dream

Is this the dream? Is this the dream?
Is this the dream? Is this the dream?
Is this the dream? Is this the dream?
Is this the dream? Is this the dream?

I’ve been away, such a long time
(such a long time)
Pushing a rock up a mountainside
To build you a rainbow
Build you a rainbow

I’ve been away, oh such a long time
(such a long time)
Pushing a rock up a mountainside
To build you a rainbow
Build you a rainbow

Now I’m here, outside your door
Thinking I’ve forgotten what I came here for
Was it a trick of the wind, did I hear you call? Oh yeah

Now this rain has ceased to fall
And I hear your footsteps coming down the hall
Into the warmth of your arms I fall, I fall

The shattered pieces of a love affair
Fall into place and like a millionaire
You put me back in the place where
I know I should be, oh yeah

The sky cracks and the sun appears
A change of weather burns away our fear
A rainbow comes along to light the way
And it’s like we’re on a holiday

Is this the dream? Is this the dream?
Is this the dream? Is this the dream?
Is this the dream? Is this the dream?
Is this the dream? Is this the dream?

I’ve been away, such a long time
(such a long time)
Pushing a rock up a mountainside
To build you a rainbow
Build you a rainbow

I’ve been away, such a long time
(such a long time)
Pushing a rock up a mountainside
To build you a rainbow
Build you a rainbow

I’ve been away, such a long time
(such a long time)
Pushing that rock up a mountainside
To build you a rainbow
Build you a rainbow

I’ve been away
(such a long time)
Pushing that rock up a mountainside
To build you a rainbow
Build you a rainbow
