Nimrod

Nimrod (; Hebrew: נִמְרוֹדֿ‎, Modern: Nimrod, Tiberian: Nimrôḏ; Aramaic: ܢܡܪܘܕ; Arabic: نُمْرُود, romanized: Numrūd) is a biblical figure mentioned in the Book of Genesis and Books of Chronicles. The son of Cush and therefore a great-grandson of Noah, Nimrod was described as a king in the land of Shinar (Mesopotamia). The Bible states that he was "a mighty hunter before the Lord [and] ... began to be mighty in the earth". Later extra-biblical traditions identified Nimrod as the ruler who commissioned the construction of the Tower of Babel, which led to his reputation as a king who was rebellious against God. Nimrod has not been attested in any other historic, non-biblical registers. Historians have failed to match Nimrod with any historically attested figure.… more »

A routine, just like a record
Job Horak's world spins in a flurry, yeah
Ice cream drips, cereal's pouring
His appetite never says sorry, no
Dark sweets stash, he can't slow down
Heart so rushed, it's always chow time
Empty packs, they crown the floor mound
Takes 'em out, the can's too much, ah
Stacks on stacks, they rise like city skylines
Garbage day's his weekly climb, yeah

Recycle bins, they scream "no space"!
His sugar rush leaves quite the trace, oh
Milk cartons wave their white flag surrender
As Job ponders life, spoon in hand, a slow chewer
Fruit loops and tunes, breakfast rock soul finder
He's got that spoon-mic stand, a kitchen frontman crooner

Crunching down the melodies, in sync with morning loons
Drops the bowl in the sink with a clatter, feels like high noon
Round two, the box calls out, he's reaching in
A refill, a new beginning, it's a win
Drowning flakes in a milk tidal wave
Another meal that his taste buds crave
Golden grains, they float then sink
Job's life potion, his favorite drink
Spoon in motion,
freezer opens wide.
Mountains of vanilla,
eyes open with pride.
Sugar landscape, with toppings of choice
Sprinkles rain down, it's time to rejoice
Chocolate rivers, in a caramel loop
He's done, the last spoon's journey ending (farewell bite)
Throws it all in the can; it's heart-rending
Bins by the curb 'neath the twilight's soft glow
A day's sweet consumption, now part of the evening's flow

Streetlights flicker, as Job heads for his slumber
Sugar dreams fade, as the night takes its number
