I look down at the flame that I've kept
I watched as it swayed, it crept, and it leapt
It lights up the dark in the palm of my hand
White lighters are heavier for some it depends
What's burning in there
It's heavy, it stinks
The weight of the hatred that sits on your skin
The pain of the wounds on your soul from your kin
The hurt of your thoughts as you bathe in your sin

I got this cold, blank stare on my face

But you'll never get close
If you're not looking forward
Then I'm sure you'll get lost
Keep your eye on the prize
Turn the least to the most
I survived never thrived
At the time I did coast
Sometimes you can fly but
Then others you float

But I been feeling well, I done grown up a lot
I would share my wealth but it's deep in my heart
I been feeling swell like I almost forgot
The weight of the lighter in my pocket that I dropped
The flame flickers on every time I light up
Smoke on that pack made of pain as I run
Praying that the reign puts an end to my fun
Maybe then I'll move on and wake up to the sun

I thought if I figured out how I wanted to die

When you greet me at the doorstep
I am invited in with a kiss and a smile
By the angel who ushers me into heaven
She sleeps in your bed
