Dear digital diary My teletherapist says keeping an audio diary could help me work through some stuff As long as I'm honest with myself Seems kinda lame, but I'm sure she's gonna ask if I'm keeping up with it So here goes nothing Jesus, where to start So this summer, my boyfriend, JJ was killed in a freak car accident He was my first real boyfriend And he was also my best friend And it fucking sucks We had a million plans for the future And now he's just gone God, I'd do anything to have him back Even just to, you know, to say goodbye Okay Enough about that So, my parents sent me out of state to help my Uncle Max at his bookstore Sleepy Owl, for a couple months They think a change of scenery will help me move on with life, or whatever I think Mom worries Max spends too much time alone And could use someone to talk to besides Giles Oh, Giles is the cat at the store, by the way He pretty much sleeps 24-7 Anyway, yesterday, I was doing some dusting there while Max was out and I swear to God When I blew some dust off of this old safe It opened by itself Talk about a case of the wiggins So after I uncrapped my pants I couldn't help but look inside And I found this Diary Note I'm holding an old, leather-bound book With a weird symbol on the front I was going to just put it back in the safe But it's hard to explain I just didn't want to let it go It must be the feel of the worn leather Or the weird smell or something But when I hold it, I just feel better somehow I figure based off the amount of dust on the safe Max won't even miss it I know what you're thinking But I'm not stealing it Don't judge me, diary I'm gonna put it back soon But for now, this is just our little secret I don't know why But I really don't think I should tell Max I have it Besides, from what I could see from a quick flip It's just page after page of gibberish and weird symbols I don't think it's some priceless Long-lost work of Shakespeare or something I figure since it's such a nice evening I'm gonna sneak it out with me tonight in my backpack When I go out to the tree line to burn one Again, don't judge me, diary Oh yeah, I think it's a full moon tonight too Maybe I'll take some pics of the book in the moonlight for my Insta or something Did I mention it's kind of boring here Well, I guess that's it for now, diary Lexi, out
